 In the role of the Credit Controller, you will support the Credit Control Team Lead with the collection of debt from our customers in a timely manner and ensure allocations and reporting are completed accurately. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious candidate who is looking for a hands-on role in an ever-growing business!

The Credit Controller Overview:

  • Ensure all outstanding debts are chased using appropriate methods and in accordance with the Credit Policy and Debt Collection process.
  • Ensure accurate record keeping of ledgers within the system (Access Dimensions) ensuring all notes are updated in real time.
  • Allocating customer payments once received accordingly so the debtor’s ledger is accurate at all times.
  • Ensuring the credit note log is accurate and up to date.
  • Assisting the Credit Control Team Lead and Group Financial Controller to identify any customers or balances that may result in bad debt.
  • Ensuring all customers where applicable are added onto the credit insurance policy.
  • Ensure the cash flow forecast model is up to date daily with expected future receipts.
  • Deal with large volumes of complex data and demonstrate the ability to present this in a clear and presentable manner.
  • Maintaining regular communication with the sales team to ensure customer details and contact details are accurate and up to date.
  • Respond to customer queries in a timely and professional manner, in line with SLAs.
  • Produce all necessary credit checking reports for both new customers and existing customers in line with the Credit Policy.
  • Assist with the progression of sales estimates to live orders in the system.
  • To manage, monitor and review credit scores for existing customers on a regular basis in line with the Credit Policy.
  • Monitor the Credit Control email inbox and escalate any queries for attention.
  • Maintain and improve standardisation of tasks and processes and contribute to projects to improve the finance system.
  • Develop strong cross functional partnerships.
  • Ad hoc tasks in the finance team as when required.

Your Experience as a Credit Controller:

  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Possess a high level of perseverance as well as a strong work ethic.
  • Access Dimensions experience would be desirable, but not essential.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills – both written and verbal.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Credit Controller role.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage and prioritise a busy and varied workload.
  • Proven track record of strong cash collections.
  • Ability to work both efficiently and effectively alone as well as part of a large and varied team.
  • Flexibility and excellent attention to detail.
  • Basic skills of all MS Office packages, including Excel and Word.
  • Be able to use initiative and be proactive in all tasks undertaken.
  • Work in an autonomous role where you can manage your own working day with a high degree of responsibility.
